Just before Photokina the new Voigtlander 20/2 has hit stores according to an email I recieved from Jack at Robert White. They have initially priced it at £305.00 (not incl. V.A.T.). Now to the big question: If you already have the old CV 28/1.9 Ultron is it worth "upgrading" to the new CV 28/2 Ultron? The CV 28/1.9 has been my favorite and one of my most abused lenses since I purchased it a couple years ago. The tonal range it renders with my b&w film and processing choices have yet to be exceeded by anything else I've used (my review here). In other words, I'm a huge fan of the 1.9 so it will take some convincing to get me to trade up. From Tom Abrahamson's test photos on flickr and P. Lynn Miller's initial photos and thoughts on the lens (which can be read here in Mainline Photo's blog) it looks like it may just be worth selling off my old f/1.9 for the new f/2.0. In terms of physical differences between the older and newer Ultrons, the most obvious one is Cosina's continued dropping of the LTM mount in favor of the M mount. The newer Ultron is also slightly lighter and shorter then the previous version, perhaps making it more useful (i.e. taking up less viewfinder real estate) on the Bessa R4A/R4M. Specific physical differences are highlighted in red below (thanks, Jack!). 28/2 28/1.9 Discuss this article on the forums. (0 posts)
