Can you wait until late February 2008? Why? Because that's when the new CV 35/1.4 Nokton Classic is due to be available! Based on the article on Cosina's website (Japanese) it seems to be very similar in design to the CV 40/1.4 Nokton. They both have the same maximum aperture, the same "pancake" barrel, and both are available in both S.C. (single-coated) and M.C. (multi-coated) versions. The "margeting language" describes the bokeh as "dimensional" (i.e. the "Leica effect"), which I can't wait to see, especially since one of the most common criticizmas of the 40/1.4 Nokton was the way it rendered it's out of focus area.

The published specifications for the Cosina-Voigtlander 35/1.4 Nokton Classic are:

Focal length: 35mm
Aperture ratio: 1:1.4
Minimul Aperture: F16
Lens configuration: 8 elements in 6 groups
Angle of View: 63°
Aperture Blades: 10
Minimum Focusing Distance: 0.7 m
Lens Diameter × Length: 55×28.5mm
Filter Size: 43
