Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* 1.5/50 OBERKOCHEN/Germany, 27.09.2007.
Carl Zeiss is now offering a special edition of the high-speed, compact Sonnar T* 1.5/50 standard lens. Based on a legendary historical design, this newly developed lens has already become very popular in the ZM lens series for the Zeiss Ikon rangefinder camera system. In response to the request from many photography enthusiasts, this lens has now also become available for traditional rangefinder cameras with an S bayonet, providing fans of such specialties with a state-of-the-art optical system.

With a black metal and chrome mount, the exterior design of the Sonnar T* 1.5/50 fully complies with the typical look of these camera series. On the lens itself, only the aperture scale is visible – with these models, the distance is set on the camera and transferred via a helical mount integrated in the housing.

The Sonnar T* 1.5/50 is successful as a compact, versatile lens for photojournalism and as a particularly fast, universal lens. Its good distortion correction ensures excellent rendition even of challenging perspectives. Its optical design and the careful "interior finish" make the lens particularly resistant to glare. The high initial aperture makes the lens ideal for photos without additional illumination even under poor lighting conditions.

Carl Zeiss will produce a special edition of the Sonnar T* 1.5/50 for rangefinder cameras with S bayonet upon receipt of advance orders. Authorized dealers will accept orders until the end of 2007.
