Older, Type I Adapter
Older, Type I adapter
Cosina has started shipping the 28/90 and 50/75 Type II LTM to M adapters with other focal lengths currently being manufactured. Both North American distributors predict that demand will be high enough and initial supply short enough that they are only willing to sell the adapters with new lens purchases. I recently recieved an email from Chii Fei, the Singapore/Malaysia region official distributor (website), who expects the adapters to be in-hand by mid-October. His feeling is that supply won't be an issue and plans to sell them individually. The type II adapters replace the discontinued type I adapters. Physically, the type II adapters have a wider brim and lack the half circle tab of their predecessor. Of importance to Leica M8 users, they can be coded. This also might be why the North American distributors are expecting such a high demand while those in Asia aren't.

Price is US$75/each, a 1/3 jump from the Type I adapter price.
