Cosina Website Updated with new R4 and lenses page PDF Print E-mail

A month ahead of its expected release, Cosina has updated its website with a promotional page for the Bessa R4A and R4M along with the new updated 21/4 and 25/4 lenses. The MSRP of the R4 (￥98.000 or US$830) is almost US$200 more then the price that most were expecting, but the street price should be closer to what sites like CameraQuest have published. Apparently, both models and one of the lenses will begin sale this month, with the Color Skopar 25/4P to go on sale in April. Those who were hoping for a faster version of the 21/4 and 25/4 are disappointed, but making a faster version would have most likely made them too large to be practical on the R4 with its .5x viewfinder...maybe next year will be the year of the 21mm and 25mm "Ultrons"? There has also been some question as to the price increase over the classic Skopar versions but remember, as with the US$830 price tag of the R4 on the Cosina website, that is just a manufacturer suggested retail price and the street price should be lower.
