good article on shooting children.

i would add on the point sparked by the capa quote--it really is entirely due to the lens. you can take a shot with a wide angle, and not have a "close to the subject" shot, and still capture so much (as evidenced in your shot of the child with the bird). perhaps that's what capa was referring to anyway...much of the time you want the context. you can get a close up shot of a kid almost any day...if you're a parent into capturing memories, i'd say you even *want* to have some context to the moment you caught. at least that's my philosophy...which drives my wife crazy sometimes.

Good point, and actually that's another mainstay of street photography: getting the environment in.
