The Walk about kit, the most important camera kit there is! My standard kit used to be a M2 with a 35 Summicron (having been a press shooter, some habits die slowly). My current kit is a R4M with either the 21/4 P or the 25/4P lens. When I take the 25 I usually pair it with a 50 on a M2 or R3M. As we speak, the bag holds the R4M and the 25 and my "fake" MP-TA1 sports the Heliar 50/2. I am diligently trying to use up the last rolls of APX 400 that are floating around.
If I can only take one camera, it is usually the M2 and a 40/1,4 Nokton. I find that I tend to
pair the lens/film according to taste. The APX 400 which I find a bit contrasty in my stock developer (Crawley's FX 37) gets the Single Coated 40 f1.4 and if i shoot Tri-X or slower films, it is the Multi Coated 40/1.4.
I have been trying to put together a "travel kit" that allows me to carry what I need in one small shoulder bag. So far my R4M/M2/R3M and the 21/4P, 35/2 S-cron and the 75/2 Summicron with a 50 tucked away (usually the 50/2 Planar or the 50/1.5 Sonnar C) seems to fit the bill. A freezer bag with 50+ rolls of Tri X and that kit should suffice for a couple of weeks.
At one time I was planning to pick up one of the "Round The World" airline tickets and stock up with 80 rolls of Tri X ("Around the world on 80 rolls"

and as a mental exercise I play with what to take. Only two cameras allowed and three lenses! Right now it is the R4M and the 21/4P, the M2 with a 50 (either the SonnarC or the 50/1,4 Aspheric Summilux) and the 90/f3.5 Apo-Lanthar. The idea of actually doing the trip has been cancelled as I cant see myself spending that much time fighting with various "security" agents in a multitude of airports anymore and have the film glow in the dark after having gone through umpteen X-rays!
Ok, I could take the 25/4P and pair it with a 50/75 combo too, of course.
My question is, what would you take?
Tom A
