Thanks for the review. I am in agreement with it for the most part.

However, a maximum aperture of f4 isn't so bad for a such a wide lens. At first, I was worried about the 21/4 being a tad slow for indoor use but I have been pleasantly surprised with the results that I've been getting. I have no worries with this lens now as I can handhold it with shutter speeds as low as 1/8th and still get reasonably sharp photos. I took the following with the lens either at 1/8th or 1/15th on my Bessa-T body. The film was Fuji 400H. I don't think that I'll need f2,8 with a 21mm.

Yeah, you can handhold 21mm at a much slower shutter speed (1/15s is easily do-able with an RF), but this is assuming your subject is static. My main interest is street photography, and so my subjects are more likely to be in motion.

Even so, I am able to get decent shutter speeds 90% of the time with it. For the price and it's overall quality I couldn't ask for more.

Looks like every auto manufacturer is coming out with something retro or roadster now. Looks like that niche market is growing alongside the RF niche market

The old FJ sure got a makeover by the designers down under, not that the original is without it's own grace and style

Yes retro was a way out of the jelly-bean style of the 1990's. People really wanted anything that was different. Although this is the best concept GM had at the show, I think its a bit too Boyd Coddington for my taste. This car drew a lot of attention at the Detroit show.

Similar thing happening for RF's I believe. Not just the retro looks but also the older process of shooting with a manual (or almost manual) camera appeals to many people. Its the primary reason why I'm into RF's. It's an escape.

Back to the 21/4. Yes I do see where you are coming from now. Would you use a 21mm extensively in your street photography? For me personally, I think 28mm would be as wide as I would go. I like using my 35/1,7 Ultron and my Brianov 50/1,5 J3 on the rare occasion that I go street shooting.

Not really. I carry it in my messenger bag because it's so small and worth carrying with me by virtue of it's size. I'd say that the 28/1.9 Ultron is on my camera at least 70% of the time, the 50/1.5 Nokton 20%, and everything else lumped in to the last 10%

With that do you still think that f2,8 would be beneficial given the size penalty and added expense?
