I'm becoming a casualty of the low-production and end-of-run propaganda...salivating over the 35/1.2; but after reading Brian's review of the Ultron 28/1.9 and its b/w merits, I'm thinking about that now. Dang you C-V.com!

Let's see, iPhone....Ultron....iPhone....Ultron.....ideas?

the Ultron 28f1.9 is indeed a great lens. I used to have the Summicron 28f2 and compared it to the 28f1.9! Well, the result speaks for itself, I sold the 28f2 and kept the f1.9! It is a "largish" lens but quite easy to bring along. With wide angles I am not too concerned with speed as I find that I rarely shoot those wide open. They are easy to handhold even at very slow speeds.
The 28f3.5 is one of my all time favourites though. I have never had a lens that performed that well in black/white.It fits my film choice (Tri X mainly) and choice of developers (various home made brews) to the T.
Iphone versus Ultron - no contest. You can always get a phone, but once the Ultron is sold out (even though there will be another 28 in the future) you have to chase them down on E-bay or some other place. Apart from that, the Ultron will serve you for the next 20-30 years whilst the Iphone will be obsolete in 6-12 month.

Yeah, if you want the 28/1.9 get the LTM version now. The LTM mount is more versitile and an M-mount version will probably (based on history) cost a little more. If there is an optical design change (doubtful, but possible) in a future "28 Ultron" then the character of the lens will also change.

One of my favourite wide angles is an old 21/4,5 Biogon, superb quality (although Mr Kobayashi insists that the new version coming this summer is better, with even less distorsion!).
eh? (cleans ear) 21...biogon...new...summer... ???

I just got a 28/1.9 from ebay--seems to be a pretty clean copy; can't wait to get it.

I have decided my next CV lens will be a black 28mm f3.5 LTM, while they are still available. I'll wait on the 50 2.5. So, that will make -nine- CV lenses all together.

With my Bessa-L's, I'll have the 21mm, 25mm, 28mm, and 35/2.5. All roughly the same size, very compact on the L, easy to tote around. The 12 I only take out when I have a specific idea that I will use it.

I guess I'm stupid for not realizing the lightmeter doesn't work when the Ultron 28/1.9 is on the Bessa R3A....?
