Are you speaking of fstop in relation to zone of focus? With my bessa L, I never really shoot outside of hyperfocus. With 35mm, hyperfocus is just a couple of meters to infinity at f5.6, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Are you using a 35mm VF?

No I don't have one so I am intending to use the 28 and postitioning it away from my eye , I wear glasses. If the film caper works out and I want to really make it a partof my work, I may???? buy the R4, plus adapter, but there seems to be no great reason why. ps I have no intentions of buying a Leica body............ lenses that is a different story

Funny. I use the viewfinder on my R2a to guess 28mm.

35mm is wide enough that you shouldn't have any issues with the Bessa L

Brian, What does hyperfocus mean. I know about scale focusing but havent heard the term hyperfocus? Also I've read somewhere it's not good to use the 25/4 wide open & I was wandering your thoughts on how I can learn to use this lens on my bessa L to it's full potential. Hope this isn't going away from the topic too much.

No lens is really made to be perfect wide open or stopped all the way down. If you're looking for perfect sharpness, it can be found at f5.6-f8 on most lenses. With some "noct" type lenses it may be closer to f4 and with macro lenses it's usually smaller, like f16.

Anyway, hyperfocal means that you are focused from a single point to infinity. Even with RF-coupled lenses you can hyperfocus and achieve greater DOF then through focusing through the viewfinder. Basically, set your aperture (like f5.6), then focus your lens so that the infinity mark sits over that set aperture. At 5.6, this will give you a DOF from ~1.5m to infinity.
