Cosina SLRs and the Trigger Wind 1 Year, 5 Months ago Karma: 1
Well, I loved the trigger wind for Bessa T, for left-eyed types it's light, easy, quick. After a long time with the RapidWinder on a Leica M6, this was a no-brainer for me. I started aeons back with with Canon VT, of course.

However... until the Bessaflex, there was no SLR which offered a winder. I hummed and hawed, really wanting a bayonet mount version, but of course the Bessaflex is now discontinued - oops.

Question though. Does this SLR (and the R series) have the same base plate configuration as the Cosina CT slr series? These take a winder, of course. Therefore, would any of them work with the trigger wind? Has anyone gone looking for this combination? Or the latest VC43 SLR with K mount, perhaps?

I noticed the Vivitar XC-3 pictured appeared to have a pretty similar looking drive cog layout, but the base plate was obviously a little wider. So it probably doesn't work.

Any experience or opinions out there?

thanks very much..

Just following up on my own post... I finally bought the last silver Bessaflex from Rick at Photo Village. For information, yes, the silver RF35 winder fits perfectly on this camera and looks the part with exact finish match, too. I've realized this is the first SLR I've ever used with a trigger wind, after years of Rapidwinder on M6 and prior to that, Canon winders. It really suits me even with long lenses, which I wasn't really expecting.

Thanks so much for the follow-up. This is the first time I've ever heard the question but your answer seems to indicate that, thanks to Cosina's use of similar designs and parts, there is a lot of cross-compatibility.

Thanks again!

Thanks Brian. Stephen Gandy's site said this was supposed to work, but... however it does, and the chrome winder and the chrome Bessaflex look very natural. Now I just need to find a near-chrome standard lens for it. Hmm... the M42 SMC Takumar, or the Fujica 50/1.4 EBC, spring to mind for weight, quality and smoothness of focus, but in all-black? Maybe I can find an early Yashica 55/1.4 with bright chrome finish, silky focus action, from a J-5 or such. The joys of stop-down metering! Almost anything will work
