Back to Article

ooo... i have not had the misfortune to lose a vf (yet) but i have this good tip to share if you have multiple wide angle lenses and multiple vf.

i once saw a guy that had fabricated something like a piece of metal that he mount all his viewfinder on (in a row) and hang it around his neck like a lanyard.

what he does is that when he wanna check the frame lines he just use the viewfinders and if he likes it then only change lense / shoot.

but wen i thought about it, probably the finders will bang on his chest all the time and that has gotta sore after a while.
I had a similar idea.

I recently puchased an old Zorki 1c and I wanted to use my CV 50 and 35 brightline vf's with it. The camera worked great except that it had the accessory shoe from hell and I couldn't mount any vf's. I replaced it with another shoe but still had the problem that some of my vf's were too loose. I put a piece of cardboard underneath the vf and that worked but I wanted a better solution. So I bought some velcro strips and stuck a piece of the soft, fuzzy part onto the bottom of the vf. They weren't loose anymore and fortunately, it didn't effect mounting them on my Bessa-T either. I was thinking attaching a long strip of (rough plastic part) onto a nice, soft cloth and then sticking a piece of velcro on the bottom of the each vf. I could then attach the vf's to the long strip all in a row and then protect them by folding the cloth over them. I would then place them somewhere in my bag.

I got plenty of vf's. I got the CV 21, 35, 50, and 75. The FSU 35 and Leitz 135. Plus Leitz VIIOH and TEWE multfinders. I love using them on my Bessa-T and my Zorki 1c but they're a pain when changing lenses. Having them all in one, easy accesible place, would probably help.
