A few weeks back the takeup spool on my R2A started to lose "torque", meaning it stopped being strong enough to pull film from the roll. So, I took it to JS Foto (website), a local family-owned shop and long-time retailer of Voigtlander gear.

Total damage was NT$1200 (US$39 at the time of this writing) and a 3-day wait. Definately an excellent price and service, especially considering that they also did an RF adjustment.

I definately recommend this place. One problem, though...they only speak Taiwanese and Mandarin Chinese.

Hi Brian,

May I know where is JS Foto? The weblink provided above does not seem to work.

Cheers,

Weird. It works for me, but their server does act buggy sometimes.

Anyway, if you're in Taipei it's at the end of Poi Ai Rd, right across from the historical North Gate (bei men) and the old post office. Their number is: 2311-5510 (international would be +886 (2) 2311-5510)

Brian,
I'm glad you were able to get your Bessa repaired locally. Mine was sent back to the factory in October and I still don't know when it will return. I do have a couple others to keep me busy, but I wonder whether the factory is overwhelmed with repairs or simply give them lowest priority?

Steve
