eyeglass wearer problems with 40mm framelines 1 Year, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello all. Here's a little dilemma I'd like some feedback on:

I've been dying to purchase a Nokton 40/1.4 S/C. (single coat) lens but didn't have a body that would show 40mm frame lines. I was thrilled to see that Cosina added 40mm frame lines to the R3M but then crushed to find that I can't actually see them due to my rather thick glasses. Now, as I'm not interested in guessing my field of view by using different focal length frame lines, nor am I interested in an additional finder, my options are slim. I did read a number of reviews indicating that the Cosina made Rollei 35 RF not only has 40mm frame lines but was also cammed to handle lenses that focus to .07 meters. Upon further research, however, I can't seem to get the Rollei to focus closer than .08 meters with the Nokton (not much better than the old R2 actually). So far I'm happy with the Rollei/Nokton combo but a bit distressed regarding the close focus problem. Does anyone have suggestions? Can the lens or body be tweaked to fix the focus issue or does anyone know of a technician capable? I'm almost afraid to ask Stephen Gandy since he's got a bad attitude about the Rollei body anyway ...

There isn't a "fix" that I'm aware of and it's something I deal with when moving between my R2 (1m) and R2A (.7m). My 21/4 Skopar has a close focus of 1/2 meter and is an issue no matter what RF body it goes on!

I think it's just part of RF shooting...but yeah, the close focus point where the RF patch "slips" is kinda annoying.

thanks for that Brian. I don't suppose it would be worth the money to tear it apart. I'm loving the 40/1.4 S.C. and realistically ... minimum close focus is a small percentage of my needs anyway. I'll say this as well, at $499.00, the rebranded R2 (Rollei 35 RF) has been exactly as expected under use ... meaning: it feels just like my genuine R2!

But with a flashier nameplate and 40mm framelines
