So this is how it ended.

  • I've been booted from CVUG

  • I must remove my personal gallery link from my sig at RFF and cannot link anywhere to it. My personal galley is just that and contains no links to anywhere else on the web, including this site.

  • I can no longer post any links at RFF. That's any links, meaning not just here or my personal gallery but pbase, www.cosina.co.jp, cnn.com, whatever.

The first one...fine.
The second one...hypocritical or justified?
The third one is just plain vindictive.

If I ever start acting like that to the people I'm trying to serve in some way, just shoot me.

Well, somethings just don't add up here. I'm not on the mailing-list (I hate mailing-lists) so I'm not sure what happened there. If its over a link to this site or a personal photo gallery site, the behaviour does seem quite irrational. No offence Brian, but its too bad Stephen is not on this site to tell his side of the story or at least defend himself. This really doesn't sound like the same person that I've dealt with for all my CV purchases.

No offense taken and, until now, the dealings I've had with him (from a customer standpoint) have been pleasant as well. In fact, if you search through the RFF you'll find some posts from me either recommending him or offering up praise.

Now I don't know. His reason for "extending" the rules to not only cover links to this site (which can be justified in the rules depending on how you read them) to my personal gallery and any other site I decide to post a URL to (neither of which can be justified by the rules" was simply that he was "tired". But that didn't come via the mailing list since he booted me from there and he wouldn't make a statement like that public, anyway. Neither will I here, but just so you can see both sides I've forwarded you his last message to me at RFF so check your messages there.

It's not meant for you to re-publish anywhere, just so you can better understand my feelings on this.

The "rules" at that forum only apply to those that owner wants them to apply to. It is not consistent, regardless of what the mods or the owner have said. There are not two sides to any story- there is only the owner's side. The recent purge made this quite obvious, and just a casual visit will reveal many urls in sigs. Some to personal sites, some to galleries posted elsewhere and even to another forum. The site is a business venture for the owner and a toy for his pal's. Anything that threatens his bottom line or upsets the "elites" will be purged.

Well what can I say Brian? I got your PM. It still doesn't make any sense to me but I think it is best not to dwell on it. Fighting it may be a waste of energy or may perhaps make the situation worse for you. I admire your hard work on this website and I hope it continues. Perhaps the rift between you and Stephen will mend itself with time.
