Well, 1/1000 is enuff - for me...I am sad because I only have money for 20 years old Kiev(25 euros in Serbia)... Taking photos at low light, at night, at places where noise must be at zero( like in church ),that is what I need. When I saw Bessa R for 250$(CameraQuest), I thought:It's crazy, but I must take credit in bank and take it!Then, RFF members told me that Bessa is louder than my old Kiev. What a pitty!
I will be happy when some camera manufaturer will be smart enuff to see that 200-300$(like Bessa R)simple (but with quiet and shakeless shutter) body will be best sale wide world... Regards!
Vladimir, r.f. camera lover ... till the end of 35mm film era.
My R2 and R2a are *infinitely* quieter then my Kiev4am...

If you want (or need) something really quiet look for a camera with a leaf shutter.

Hi every one, what I'd like to see from CV is some faster wides in the 28mm to 21mm range, f2.0 would be nice with out having to splash out for CV / Zeiss; imagine a 21mm f2 / 2.8 for the same price as a 4omm Nokton!

I'm with Brian, I'd like to see the R2/3M available without having to buy the whole kit at a premium price. The concept of the R2/3M, being fully mechanical does show that perhaps there will be a further deviance by CV away from the digital age. Cheers N.S.

As I stated above, I have a Kiev 4am, a Bessa R2, and a Bessa R2a. There is NO WAY that the Bessas are louder then the Kiev. The Bessas don't have that shutter "clang" that the Kiev has.

I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong here) that the Bessa R and R2 share the same shutter.

Or how about if Cosina made something along the lines the the Fuji Natura S? A fast wide angle fixed lens, really small body and near silent leaf shutter.
