Anybody else seen Voigtlander BESSA WORLD? 1 Year, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
I bought on ebay, a copy of the Japanese periodical "Voigtlander BESSA WORLD". I have the 2001.11.1 issue, which covers the 101 Heliar, the Bessa T, and the R and L cameras. It's very comprehensive 8) and an absolutely cool reference guide to my cameras. Also excellent photo portfolios, a comprehensive side-by-side CV lens test, and lots of great photos of every possible configuration of the gear and accessory ever made ;D Sure wish I could read Japanese, but I do love the photos

BTW on page 104 is a Voigtlander orginal accessory (I would guess) which slips around the lens mount, and tightens around the focusing helical, and gives you a very-nice raised tactile knurled ring. Looks alot like the www.leicagoodies.com "STEER" focusing helical ring. Looks like an original Voigtlander acessory, to fit the 21/4, 25/4, 28/3.5 . Anybody know anything about these lens-helical rings? Why did they never put them into production, I wonder?

I once saw a fast 75/2(?) prototype from CV that was never put into production. My guess is a lot of stuff never makes it past the concept phase.

I haven't seen that, but the local bookstore has tons of similar Japanese "technical" magazines on Nikon and Leica gear. They're facinated with watches, too.

That would be a great reference to have. I wonder if it can be ordered?

Yes, I purchased a copy of Bessa World when I was in Taiwan three months ago. It's mostly in Japanese, but fun to peruse. Not sure how to obtain a copy in the States.

Where did you get it from? My neighborhood in Taipei has tons of Japanese expats living in it and the local Kingstone bookstore caters to them, but they didn't have this one.

Maybe the 24hr eslite near Dun Hua circle?

Hi Brian. I was born in Kao Hsiung and visited there with my wife, Diane. We stayed at the Han Lai Grand Hotel, which is attached to a department store. There is a bookstore located on the basement floor where there is a food court. I found Bessa World in the Japanese magazines section called "Mook." That section has tons of photog stuff. Technical manuals, diagrams, gear, etc. I don't remember the name of the bookstore. I'll ask my wife when she gets home from work.

Aside, Bessa World is a definite must have. Hope this helps!
