Film transport problem 2 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 0
My Bessa L (mint, only 3 films through it) has a take up spool that only works intermittently resulting in batches of double exposures interspersed with properly separated frames. When loading the film the spool acts as if the release button is depressed and only when I close the back will the windback lever rotate - sometimes.

Does anyone know if this is something I can fix myself or is an expensive repair due?

Thanks<br><br>Post edited by: mal, at: 2006/04/19 10:49

This may or may be related:

My R3A rewind knob does not rotate as I wind on. It may be generic and nothing to worry about.

Thanks Jon but the worrying thing is it's ruining half my shots - always the ones most anticipated :0(<br><br>Post edited by: mal, at: 2006/04/19 18:49

Can you shoot a quick test roll to try to isolate the issue?

Haven't had this issue with my L, and it's had about 20 rolls of film put through it since I got it 3 or so months ago.

Perhaps it's the film door? I know this sound weird, but if there isn't enough &quot;pressure&quot; on the film the spool might not catch the sprocket holes in the film?

Yeah, I know. Grasping at straws.

You might have point there Brian although I noticed when I first got it that the take up spool seemed to be slipping even when the sprockets were advancing the film causing a bunching on the spool instead of a tight roll.
